2026-05-07 - 08 Beer Beach and rest day

 

Beer Beach is about 40 min from where we are staying.  The google maps make it look very straightforward to get there.  What is not obvious is that the last part of the trip is on single and 1.5 track roads where you have to dive off the road (in the right place) for two cars to pass.   I am sure if you are doing this every day, it is no big deal.  It proved quite exciting and intense for us. 

 

 

The destination was worth the travel effort.  It is called a pebble beach.  What it looks like to me is small river rock.  It is easy to walk on.   The boats that fish there are docked on the beach.  The boat has 3 sled points on the hull and the boat is winched in from the shore to the beach.  We did not see any boats go out and I am left to surmise that the crew pushes the boat back into the water.   

 

 

We were fortunate to be there in full sun, which made the low 60 degree temperature very pleasant.  We sat for a while on the provided lounge chairs.   

 

 

As you can see, the beach is surrounded by cliffs and there are pathways that you can take to the cliffside, which we did.  

 

      

The town is beautiful and quaint.  It had a good amount of visitors, but it is very much a small town and has managed to say that way despite the access to the ocean.  Of course, I found a cat that needed petting.

 

 

 

 

 

Friday was a down day.  Esther had a significant headache and sore throat which took a while to dissipate.  But the day is sunny and we are sitting here in the gardens  doing journaling.
