2026-05-04 Bank Holiday
We started out with a grand plan. We would cook bkfst at the cottage, work at the Ilminster library, go to the Ilminster historical tour (this is a small town with a High Street shopping and a lot of historical buildings), and finally get some food to eat at home for lunch and dinner.
Things went south when we found the library was closed for the Bank Holiday. No problem, we thought...it is a government facility; we can just go work at a coffee shop.....pzzzt! We went to two coffee shops and then clued in to the reality that virtually every retail store was closed for the Bank Holiday. Evidently, smaller towns take Bank Holidays quite seriously.
Tesco was not closed, so we did our shopping and came back home. The clouds had parted and we had a lovely time sitting on our patio with Esther doing her reading and me doing work on the computer.
We got in another neighborhood walk before dinner. Our hosts have gone to Scotland for a getaway and their cat has decided to bless us with coming to sit on our sofa. She is a quiet but friendly cat.
